Blind Flange Facing, Pressure Class and Gasket Selection
A blind flange has no through-bore and closes a pipe-end, valve or vessel opening by bolting against a compatible mating flange. Specify the relevant standard and nominal size, then match the pressure class or PN rating, bolt-hole pattern, flange facing and material to the existing joint. ASME class and DIN/EN PN ratings are not directly interchangeable. Pressure-temperature suitability depends on the design standard, material group and actual service conditions.
Check the required raised-face (RF), flat-face (FF) or ring-type-joint (RTJ) facing where applicable. The mating face, gasket type, bolt grade and tightening procedure are part of joint selection; the flange alone does not guarantee a leak-tight pressure-test closure. Confirm any test conditions and safety requirements with the responsible engineer.
